Lost Contact with Birth Parents

If you’ve lost contact with the birth parents, the adoptive family or the adopted child, there are ways to find them.

The State of Florida maintains a registry of adoptive information that may provide the information you need. While the registry is completely voluntary, often times the parties will agree to enter their names and address so that the information will be available should them become disconnected.

This includes the names and addresses of the adoptive parents, birth parents, the adoptive child and even grandparents. The information can be updated as names or address change.

The parties should consider agreeing to signing up at the registry at the time the adoption takes place, in addition to exchanging contact information at that time.
